TH-3117 Concentric Tube Heat Exchanger

This exchanger allows us to measure cold water and hot water temperatures in different points of the exchanger.

  • Aluminium structure and panels in HDF.
  • All the water contact parts are made of PVC, Brass, Copper or Stainless Steel to avoid corrosion.
  • Formed by two copper concentric tubes with hot water circulating through the internal tube and cold water circulating through the annular space.
  • Exchange length: L x 4 x 0.5 = 2m.

 Internal tube

  • Internal diameter: 8mm
  • External diameter: 10mm
  • Thickness = 1mm
  • Internal heat transfer area: 0.0377 m2
  • External heat transfer area: 0.0471 m2

 External tube

  • Internal diameter: 13~14mm
  • External diameter: 15~16mm
  • Thickness = 1~1.5mm

 Sensors

  • Temperature sensors (”K” type thermocouples).
  • Cold water temperature sensor at the exchanger inlet or outlet.
  • Hot water sensor at the exchanger inlet.
  • Hot/cold water sensor between the first and second stretch of the exchanger.
  • Hot/Cold water sensor between the second and third stretch of the exchanger.
  • Hot/Cold water sensor between the third and fourth stretch of te exchanger.
  • Temperature sensor of the exterior surface of the interior tube at the exchanger inlet.
  • Temperature sensor of the exterior surface of the interior tube at the exchanger outlet.
  • Built in water heater with circulating pump.
  • Cooling water from temperature water supply.

Description

A heat exchanger is device by which Thermal Energy is transferred from one fluid to another. The unit Concentric Tube Heat Exchanger provides an opportunity to study heat transfer through a concentric tube under the parallel or counter flow conditions.

This unit is used for study the heat transfer through a concentric tube under parallel or counter flow conditions.

The Turbulent Flow Heat Exchanger allow us to study the heat transfer between hot water that circulates through an internal tube and cold water that flows through the annular zone between the internal and the external tubes.

Software TH-3117SW (optional)
DAQ software specially designed in National Instrument™, LABVIEW™ environment to measure and calculate the results of apparatus. The software is optional and while using software a set of electronic sensors are included. Software can be run with any Windows™ environment.
