Automated Filtration pilot plant is mainly consisting of a sand filter and an activated carbon filter; filtered water is collected into a tank from which samples for proper laboratory analysis can be extracted. Sand filters consists of layers of graded sand which effectively remove the suspended particles like metals and slit. Activated Carbon Filters is designed to remove color, odor and organic maters from the feed stream.
This unit demonstrates the removal of dissolved substances by adsorption. The components dissolved in the raw water during adsorption are known as adsorbate.
A pump transports the water from a feed tank in a circuit with two filtration tanks filled with graded sand and activated carbon. The pump transports treated water to the first filtration tank. The raw water enters the first tank and flows through the sand filter. Here the suspended particles are filtered. To remove any quantities of adsorbate present from the water, the water then flows through a second filter (activated carbon Adsorber). The treated water is then collected in the product tank.
