Students can learn the torsion testing of various material test specimens to failure using the benchtop instructional equipment. Rods of various lengths, diameters, and materials are utilised   as specimens. On software, test torque, twist angle, and stiffness modulus are all measured. The measurement jig can be moved along the frame to adjust varied length specimens. Manual torque application uses a worm gear and hand wheel. The apparatus is used to fracture various materials under torsional stress. Measurements are made of test torque and twist angle. Rods of various lengths, diameters, and materials are utilised as specimens. The dolly may slide to adjust to different length rods. The test rod holder is a commercially available socket. Square portions are used to support the base plate against twisting. A mechanism with a reduction gearing is used to apply the torque. The torque is provided as an electrical signal by a strain gauge that measures shaft twist, and the angle of twist is captured by an incremental encoder. The digital displays show both values. The housing provides adequate security for the microprocessor-based measuring method. The software and the microprocessor provide all the benefits of experiments and evaluations backed by software. A USB connection is used to connect to a PC (optional).
